EL PRECIO DE LA REVOLUCIÓN

Cile, 2022

In Chile 2019 and 2020 are known as the Estallido Social years. Social protests against the government of Sebastián Piñera took place throughout the country, leading the people to elections and the victory of current President Gabriel Boric. During the two-year uprising, the Chilean armed forces were cited for human rights violations for their use of violence against protesters. Testifying to this are more than five hundred complaints of victims of eye trauma hit by balines, perdigones and tear gas during the clashes. The work The Price of a Revolution shows part of the victims. All of them recounted suffering from depression, panic attacks and, in many cases, trying to commit suicide. They reported suffering discrimination, losing their jobs or homes, and not receiving adequate help from the state. In none of the cases was the aggressor convicted.
