DISCOVER LITIO

Cile, 2022  – ON GOING

The Salar de Atacama is an evocative place. Surrounded by volcanoes, lagoons and red stones. A place connected to ancestors, to the relationship with Nature, to Pachamama. But in the Salar something is changing. Water is starting to become scarce in the Salar, both from the sky and from the ground. The rains that allowed survival have ceased.

Some attribute the cause to the presence of the lithium mines whose huge pools mirror the sun, not allowing rainfall. Much of the water from underground is used by mining companies for the lithium processing destroying the ecosystem.
